McCoy’s Animal Rescue · Senior rescue fund

Pepper & Little Bit

Two little seniors lost the only home they knew — and landed softly with us. Now they need the vet care they’ve never had, and you can help us give it to them.

Pepper, a 14-year-old senior Yorkshire Terrier with a long silky gray-and-tan coat, looking at the camera
Pepper, 14 — the grandma of the pair, all silk and sweetness
Little Bit, a 9-year-old Yorkshire Terrier with a tan head and his tongue poking out, cuddled up with Eric on arrival day
Little Bit, 9 — crooked teeth, tongue out, heart wide open (with Eric, arrival day)

Their story

A whole life, gone in a day

Pepper and Little Bit came to McCoy’s Animal Rescue on October 16, 2026, after their owner — an 88-year-old woman who loved them dearly — passed away. At 14 and 9 years old, they lost their person, their home, and everything familiar, all at once.

They arrived with no vet records and no papers at all. As far as anyone knows, they haven’t seen a vet in years. Pepper’s teeth need a close look, and both of them need the full senior workup before anyone can say exactly what care they need. What we can say already: they are gentle, they are bonded, and they are safe here for as long as they need us.

The care plan

Starting from scratch, the right way

1

Settle in (done)

Good food, warm beds, a bath and groom from Crystal, and time to learn that this house is safe. Done — they arrived October 16 and are already couch regulars.

2

The big vet visit — done October 26

Full exams at Fieldstone Veterinary with Dr. Mike: all their shots including rabies, senior blood work, a microchip scan, and a careful dental evaluation. Both of them did great.

3

The written estimate — $850 each

Dr. Mike’s written estimate for the dental work each of them needs comes to $850 apiece — $1,700 for the two of them. That number is now this fund’s goal, posted here the same day, in the open, like everything we do.

4

Dental work & follow-up

Teeth cleaned or pulled as needed, pain-free mouths, and follow-up care until both of them get a clean bill of health. We’ll update this page at every step.

Help us get them the care they’ve waited years for

October 26 update: exams, shots and rabies are done — and thanks to our donors, the $150 raised covered that visit’s bill in full. The next step is the big one: Dr. Mike’s written estimate for the dental work is $850 for each of them — $1,700 in all. Every dollar given now goes straight into that dental fund at Fieldstone.

So far: Victoria gave $100 directly at Fieldstone Veterinary, and Amy Baker gave $50 on Cash App — together they covered the October 26 visit in full. Thank you both.
